Question: How do I upload my Website?

This question relates to category Web Hosting

Answer:

In order to copy your files to your website you will need to use an FTP program to transfer files from your PC to the webserver.

Examples of popular FTP programs are; FileZilla, WSFTP, CuteFTP, SmartFTP, or the built in FTP application of your web development program (eg, Dreamweaver)

When using your FTP client use the following settings:

FTP host: ftp.yourdomain (eg, ftp.redalto.com)
Username: (refer to your welcome letter)
Password: (refer to your welcome letter)
Host directory:
.
www/ (for Business & Budget Hosting)
wwwroot/ (for Windows Hosting)

Depending on your FTP client, when you log in to your website you may not have to define the "Host Directory", in which case you will see a directory called either '/www/' or '/wwwroot/'. This is the main folder where web site is accessible from. When you upload your website, it will need to be placed in this directory. Also, make sure the main page of your website is called index.htm or index.html.
