Post Office Protocol version 3. Internet standard that facilitates the collection of email messages on a server which can then be viewed or collected from any remote machine that is connected to the internet and runs a POP3 client. Eudora or Outlook Express are both POP3 clients which are used to collect email messages from a POP3 server.
Users can also view emails in their POP3 account remotely by using a web browser rather than using a POP3 client. Redalto provides customers access their POP3 email using either a POP3 client or Webmail Access (see also web mail)
